KDSC Mission Statement
The Kelowna and District Safety Council Society is a community-based registered charitable organization dedicated to promoting safety awareness and accident prevention within Kelowna and the surrounding communities. We do this by educating the public about a variety of safety issues and through the provision of safety training.
Would you like to make a difference in your community?
The Kelowna & District Safety Council is governed by a Board of Directors, and members of the community are invited to submit their name for consideration as a Board Member. Typically, new board members are voted in at the Annual General Meeting (usually in March), but applications are accepted year-round and temporary appointments made if vacancies exist.
“We’re looking for people who are passionate about safety and who are interested in serving their community and making it a safer place in which to live, work, and play,” says Gray Mills, Past President. “We also want people to can bring ideas to our Board about how to enhance our programs and prepare for growth, while continuing to set the highest standards of professional training that is available.”
Interested applicants should have previous Board or committee experience, understand the purpose and nature of our programs, and bring an enthusiastic yet practical approach to the challenges and opportunities facing non-profits. Applicants must also commit to attending monthly Board meetings, as well as additional sub-committee meetings as needed. Board members are an important part of the society’s operation and provide input on a variety of areas including policy development, fund development, finances, programming, and marketing.
Individuals wishing to submit their name for consideration are invited to complete the application form available on this page and submit it, along with a current resume, to firstname.lastname@example.org
