COVID-19 – Program Updates

March 24, 2020

To our KDSC community –

During the current coronavirus pandemic, all of us are being challenged to make the necessary changes in our personal lives, social practices and business activities to ensure safety, not only for ourselves but also for the people around us. All this is made more difficult as the dimensions of this crisis are changing day by day, and even hour by hour. Most recently, Prime Minister Trudeau has asked all Canadians to stay at home if at all possible. Individuals, businesses and non-profits must all do their part to slow the transmission of the virus, both to spare lives and to ensure that our healthcare system does not become dangerously overwhelmed.

The Kelowna & District Safety Council is committed to doing its part to protect the health and safety of the public, our instructors, and our staff. As of today, therefore, ALL KDSC programs are postponed until at least May 1st, and longer if the situation requires. This includes all children’s programs, elder programs, driver education programs, and motorcycle training courses. We understand that this will be disappointing to some people, but safety and well-being are at the heart of our mission, and must be our highest priority.

If you have pre-registered and prepaid for courses, we will work with you to reschedule your course as soon as it is advisable based on public health advisories. If the start date of your course is May 1 or later, your status is presently unaffected.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please email us at Since our phone messaging system is being monitored remotely, in keeping with the Prime Minister’s work-from-home directive, email will ensure that you receive the most timely response.

We thank you for your patience and understanding, and we wish you and yours good health.

John Grimes
